A warm welcome to Awarenez Therapy
About Me

Hi, I’m Jan. I’m a Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and Person-Centred Counsellor, a registered EMDR practitioner and MBCT teacher.
I provide online therapy for adults who are navigating anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or the lasting effects of difficult life experiences. My approach blends structured, evidence-based methods with insight, warmth, and lived experience — helping you move beyond “just coping” and reconnect with yourself.
My Journey
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in education and leadership, including roles as a secondary school teacher and Assistant Headteacher. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Postgraduate Degree in Coaching and Mentoring Practice, and a Postgraduate Degree in Psychological Therapies ( High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy); With further international experience teaching English in Spain.
These experiences taught me the complexities of identity, stress, and self-worth — both in others and in myself.
I also live with ADHD and understand first-hand the challenges of navigating emotional ups and downs, performance pressure, and self-criticism. I don’t specialise in neurodivergence, but my insight allows me to work compassionately with clients who carry the weight of internal and external expectations.
My Clinical Background
I have experience working within NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) and continue to collaborate with private sector providers through Employee Assistance Programmes, alongside running my own private practice. I offer psychotherapy to adults navigating a wide spectrum of challenges, including:

- Depression
- Generalised anxiety and excessive worry
- Panic
- Work-related stress and burnout
- Social anxiety
- Low mood, overthinking, and self-criticism
- People-pleasing, perfectionism or pressure to perform
- Emotional distress following difficult or traumatic experiences
- Specific phobias
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – single-event trauma
- Self-esteem and body image concerns
- Values-based life transitions
I often work with high-functioning adults who appear capable on the outside but feel emotionally exhausted or stuck inside. My clients are often professionals, all types of carers, creatives, or individuals who tend to overthink, overdo, or put others first.
My work includs carrying out assessment, treatment planning, weekly therapy sessions, and end-of-therapy relapse planning.
My Therapeutic Approach
I work in an integrative and collaborative way, drawing from:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
- Person-Centred Counselling
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) (offered separately, where appropriate, for trauma-related work)
Our focus will be on meaningful, sustainable change. My approach is structured, but never rigid—providing a steady framework while allowing space for your unique needs to shape the process. I bring compassion over clinical detachment, and while my sessions are grounded in evidence-based practice, it remains deeply personalised and responsive to you as an individual.
At the heart of it all is genuine human connection.
Honouring Your Courage and Choice
I deeply respect the courage it takes to reach out for professional support—it’s a brave and meaningful step. I’m truly honoured by the trust you’ve placed in me as a companion on your journey toward greater wellbeing. Whether you choose to work with me or explore other paths, my aim is to equip you with the insight and information you need to make empowered, informed choices about your therapeutic journey.
Thank you for considering me as a potential ally in your pursuit of healing and personal growth.
