Psychotherapy & Counselling at AWARENEZ THERAPY
The focus of ALL therapies offered is on YOU as the expert of your own life. You may not believe this or even feel this right now. We all have within us the capacity for growth and positive change, no different from how the body can heal itself. It may take time and a lot of patience. My role is to facilitate that process by offering empathy, genuine understanding, and unconditional acceptance.
All sessions at this time are via online Teams video calls.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is more than just a therapeutic technique—it’s a collaborative journey towards healing and growth. Together, we will explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that may be holding you back, and work on practical strategies to overcome them. Whether it’s managing overwhelming feelings of sadness or navigating the constant worry that comes with anxiety, our goal is to empower you with the tools you need to thrive.
The sessions are tailored to your specific challenges and goals, NOT one size fits ALL, ensuring that you get the support that’s just right for you.
Commitment to CBT is important as it requires you to carry out in-between session tasks tailored to reinforce what we’ve discussed and to help you apply new skills in your daily life. Completing these assignments is crucial for making progress and fostering meaningful change. They might include experiential exercises, keeping track of your thoughts and emotions in a therapy notebook, noting both positive and negative events, and any insights gained. This can serve as a valuable material for our discussions in follow-up sessions, allowing us to delve deeper into your experiences and develop strategies for growth. By actively engaging in these tasks and maintaining you’ll not only enhance the effectiveness of our sessions together but also cultivate a greater understanding of yourself and your journey towards well-being.

You’ll find that I genuinely listen, seeking to understand your experiences without any judgment. Your thoughts, feelings, and experiences are at the heart of our sessions. Instead, helps to guide you in exploring your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. This client-led approach ensures that you feel empowered and in control of your growth.
Throughout our sessions, I’ll ask questions that encourage deeper reflection and self-discovery. These prompts are designed to help you gain insight into your patterns of thinking and behaviour. By understanding yourself better, you’ll be better equipped to navigate life’s challenges.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy is a therapy technique that helps process distressing memories and rewire negative beliefs. EMDR is a transformative approach to healing trauma and unlocking your inner resilience. It works by creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. During our sessions, we’ll focus on identifying specific traumatic memories or distressing experiences that are holding you back.
Through guided bilateral stimulation (BLS) — such as eye movements, taps, or sounds—we’ll work to access and reprocess these memories in a way that promotes healing.
As we engage in EMDR therapy, you may notice shifts in your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Memories that once felt overwhelming may start to lose their power, and you may experience a greater sense of resolution and relief. The goal is to help you process past trauma in a way that allows you to move forward with greater resilience and empowerment. EMDR therapy can be a powerful tool for addressing a wide range of issues, from PTSD and anxiety to phobias and self-esteem challenges. If you’re ready to break free from the grip of past trauma and embrace a brighter future, EMDR therapy could be the key.

Psychoeducation Group Programmes for Depression and Anxiety
Having run several groups I understand this may not be for everyone. So, I would like to explain a little bit about the purpose of Psychoeducation Groups and their purpose. Firstly, it is not 1:1 therapy (please see the other forms of therapy offered by me, at AWARENEZ THERAPY). Psychoeducation Group Programmes are designed to empower and uplift individuals navigating feelings of sadness or anxiety and help prevent relapse, in a group setting. This isn’t just any class – it’s a journey toward understanding, growth, and renewed positivity. Picture a supportive space where you can embark on a six-week discovery over 1.5. hours each session. Each group programme consists of between 6 and 8 participants, they are small and friendly. Here, you will hopefully discover a wealth of insights and tools to navigate your emotional landscape with resilience and grace. It’s about embracing the opportunity to thrive, finding solace in shared experiences, and unlocking the keys to inner peace and mental wellness.
One important thing about each group is that everyone supports each other. Nobody judges anyone else, and everything shared stays private. It’s a safe space where everyone can open up without worrying about what others might think and share only what feels comfortable.
Who are Depression and Anxiety Psychoeducation Group Programmes for: Individuals who have already participated in some form of talking therapy, anyone who wants to understand themselves better and learn new ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and low mood, to understand negative, self-critical thoughts, behaviours patterns, and emotions better, to learn and or re-establish and maintain previously used strategies and tools to help prevent setbacks. It can be comforting to know ‘You Are Not Alone.’ Being in a group shows you’re not the only one facing these challenges.
